Water Metering

Adopted in 2013, the Comprehensive Regional Water Plan (Part 1, Part 2) outlines the plan for increasing water supply in combination with metering, to manage demand.

Water metering will help the SCRD and water users improve their leak detection abilities as well as better inform users of their water consumption. Water metering is widely recognised as an industry best practice. Many cities and regional districts across Canada have already made the move towards metering.

Meter Installation Schedule

Pender Harbour - Water meters were installed at all properties with water service connections in the areas of North and South Pender Harbour between August 11, 2014 and February 2015.

The remaining regional Electoral Areas of Halfmoon Bay, Egmont, Earls Cove, Roberts Creek, Elphinstone, and West Howe Sound (excluding Hopkins Landing) were outfitted with water meters in between September of 2016 and October of 2017. A few properties are still awaiting meter installations that will be completed in between January and March of 2017.

District of Sechelt will be the next phase of meter installations.
